Presenting our interview series with Music City Burlesque! Get up close and personal with this founding member and gorgeous performer. She’s the tantalizing temptress of Tennessee, the lady
Lux-O-MATIC!
What’s your story?
The Legend of Lux-O-Matic... Under an autumnal moon at a Mississippi crossroads, two star-crossed lovers met in secret: one an angel another a demon. Remorseful and dutiful servants to their masters, each returned the next day to the armies which bred them - neither knowing of the lovechild they left behind. With no home or soul to call her own, she walked the earth as half angel, half demon. Her piercing eyes, lit with a fiery flame of how she came to be, Lux became her name. Music mirrors the soul of its creator, and in a desperate attempt to acquire her own soul, Lux followed the beat of the drum. From the rhythm and blues of the Delta, to the zydeco beats of the bayou - she roamed ever seeking, until the lure of the Music City brought her home. When the music starts, her eyes shine and her writhing body overtakes her mind. On viewing this lovely illumination's loss of self control, she was dubbed Lux-O-Matic. With alabaster curves that conjure the lap of luxury, and piercingly cool eyes that can be spotted from across a crowded room, this raven-haired pin-up is the ultimate in pulchritude.
How long have you been performing and how did you get started?
I started performing in the summer of 2007 with Panty Raid and shortly after moved on to co-found and produce Music City Burlesque.
Growing up as a ballet, jazz, and tap dancer I’ve always found my soul through dance.
After a few adult years of being a 'dormant" dancer and while traveling, I discovered burlesque through the burlesque scenes in New York City and Los Angeles and after witnessing the sensual energy and the art of tease live and in person....I knew the burlesque stage was my new found home.
I came back to Nashville and booked an audition with Panty Raid and the rest is, as they say… history.
A psychologist once told me, “You're the type of person that experiences the world and those around you through your sexuality, you are passionate by nature and you need to embrace it..."
These last six years on stage I’ve been perfecting my craft as a burlesque performer through my sexuality and passion for dance. It is truly where I feel most at home and free to express my heart’s desire. Simply put, I was born to entertain and TEASE!
Most embarrassing moment on stage?
I should preface this by saying that I have been a very fortunate performer when its comes to "hiccups" on stage, but these 2 moments come to mind:
My very first burlesque performance was in NYC during the Saturday night show of the 2007 New York Burlesque Festival, which was being MC'd by the extremely talented Murray Hill. He asked me to come back on stage with him after the act and tell everyone my name. In sheer excitement, I blurted out my real name instead of my stage name! I was instantly mortified in front of all these professional performers. He of course laughed and played it off at my expense just like a great host. "SHOWBIZ!!!!"
I also had a zipper bust at the hip seem of my gown far too early in my act. I had to improv the act on the spot to avoid anyone seeing the busted seem and disguise the horror on my face as I figured out what to do. After viewing the video it didn’t look as bad as it felt. I worked it out the best I could and actually recovered well on stage surprisingly.
My advice to those who have a "hiccup": Keep dancing... and if it’s something you absolutely cannot avoid or disguise, play it up! The crowd will love you even more for it. I once saw Miss. Saturn spank herself silly for dropping a hoop when she shouldn't have and it made the act even more incredible. Be in the moment and SMILE!!!!
Side note: I still to this day have never ever popped a pastie. I do, however, secretly want it to happen....never say never right?
Best on stage or burlesque-esque experience?
Every time I am on stage is the best. I truly live for my acts while I am up there and every show is better than the last.
When Jack White came to MCB's very first big production at the Belcourt Theatre (March 2008). After the show, he pulled me aside to tell me that my Sandman act was incredible and his favorite of the show! SWOON!
*Lux fact: she is a dancer in The Dead Weather video "Cut like a Buffalo"
What or who inspires you?
Lili St Cyr is my number one burlesque-sex goddess-heroine. Everything about that creature was flawless. The way she walked, talked, dressed, and danced. I could watch her films over and over and never get tired of her sensual enigmatic personality.
Answer this question: I would like to be remembered as...
Nashville's uncanniest, wittiest, yet sexiest entertainer that ever was... I crack myself up!
Seriously though, I’m pretty partial to my tagline..."The Tantalizing Temptress of Tennessee"
What’s Nashville’s naughtiest secret?
Hmmmm... If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret now would it?

What does burlesque mean to you?
Burlesque is a performance art form, mostly consisting of dance and comedy focusing on the tease...to entice the audience and hold their attention for the entire act leaving them with one feeling: WANTING MORE (no matter what you're selling;)!!!!
What is your favorite act(s) and why?
My Sandman act will always be close to my heart as it was my very 1st solo. I’ve had others come and go, but Sandman is my golden act. It was the act that defined my character and mold me into who I am today.
Unfortunately I have not performed it since October of 2009 and cannot seem to obtain any video of it...Maybe its time to come out of retirement.
